What it is used for
A secondary user agent for publishers to opt out of their content being used to train Apple's general-purpose foundation models. It does not crawl pages itself. Not a crawler you will see in your logs. A token in robots.txt that tells the operator how already collected content may be used.
What happens if you block it
Apple says disallowing it does not remove pages from search results, and its rules are not considered in Search ranking.
In logs you will see plain Applebot, which has its own page.
How to allow or block Applebot-Extended
Add one of these groups to the robots.txt at the root of your domain. A group that names the bot overrides a general User-agent: * group.
