What it is used for
UptimeRobot's distributed monitoring sends these requests: initial checks come from randomly selected servers in one region, and per UptimeRobot a detected issue is verified with additional checks from another data center in the same region.
What happens if you block it
Monitors that watch your site can report it as down. UptimeRobot says false downtime alerts often mean that a hosting provider blocks its IP addresses.
The documented string has a plus sign after Mozilla/5.0 instead of a space. UptimeRobot also publishes its addresses as JSON and by DNS on its locations page.
Is it really UptimeRobot?
Anyone can send UptimeRobot as a user agent, so a log line proves nothing by itself. The way to tell is the requesting IP address.
